According to the prolific Samsung leakster @iceuniverse, Samsung is working on a smartphone with an under-display camera module. Unfortunately, this technology is neither going to be in the Galaxy S11 Plus or the Galaxy Fold 2, so we should expect another previously unheard Samsung smartphone to feature the under-display camera technology.
There is MORE EVIDENCE for the Under-Display Camera Smartphone
It’s not only @iceuniverse that has talked about this technology, but Korean Website the Elec has also mentioned the same kind of under-display camera launch for 2020.
The website is in Korean, but using google translate, here is what they have said in their article:
Samsung Electronics is expected to release a smartphone next year with its front panel filled with a camera hole. Samsung Display’s OLED panel with Under Display Camera (UDC) technology is adopted. The equipment that implements UDC is called ‘HIAA (Hole In Active Area)’.
This is far from a rumor as the article goes on and continus to detail that the production of technology that support “HIAA” (Hole in Active Area) has already started in a Samsung plant in Chungnam, South Korea.
All these reports are further confirmed by Samsung Mobile Communications vice president Yang Byung-duk who has disclosed that the company is working on an invisible camera with the goal of creating a true full-screen smartphone, without any pop-up cameras or other circus tricks.
Again, this will not be the Samsung Galaxy S11. We expect the Galaxy S11 to continue having a hole in display. Once the technology is perfect it will most likely find it’s way into the S-Line and Note Line.
We are certainly excited about this news and can’t wait to see what Samsung has in store for us in 2020.
