Make Money on Youtube

I started running a Youtube channel in 2014 as a side gig, not expecting much. My objective was to have some supplemental income on top of my regular full-time job. But 2 years later, in 2016, I quit my regular 9-to-5 full-time job. The reason I quit was because I was suddenly making more money as a Youtuber than my regular job.

I was investing 40 hours per week in my regular full-time job making $45,000 a year as a financial specialist. At the same time, I was only investing approximately 20 hours per week on my Youtube channel making around $80,000. Now, in 2020, I make much more as you will discover when I reveal how much I made per million views on Youtube (my channel now has over 250,000,000 views). You are welcome to check it out, I am known as “saki from sakitech”, sakitech being the name of my channel.

I quit my regular 9-to-5 full-time job. The reason I quit was because I was suddenly making more money as a Youtuber than my regular job.

So anyway, I thought let me quit my regular job and let me invest my time on Youtube, working full-time for myself, instead of working for someone else. That’s what I did and here I am. And I want to share how much I made per million views, so that perhaps I can inspire the reader who may be dreaming about being a Youtuber by showing you real world numbers. Believe it or not, I myself was inspired by watching a video of another Youtuber who was revealing how much he was making on his channel (he was making $7000 per month). I thought to myself, “If he can do it, so can I”. So I got to work, and now I make even more than that per month. And of course, if I can do it, so can you.

Now obviously one of the biggest questions I get as a Youtuber is “How much money do you make?”. And side question: “How does one make money on Youtube?” Let me tell you.

One of the biggest questions I get as a Youtuber is “How much money do you make?”. And side question: “How does one make money on Youtube?” Let me tell you.

So, let me first answer how people make money on Youtube and then give you actual examples of how much I make.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY ON YOUTUBE?

Once you are approved as a partner, Youtube allows you to run ads before, during and after, on the videos you have uploaded. Those ads generate revenue, and you get to keep approximately 60% of the revenue generated. Youtube keeps 40% for providing the platform, tools, etc.

That’s all.

  • Upload videos
  • Become a Youtube partner
  • Start earning money by running ads on your videos

SO, HOW MUCH DID I MAKE FOR 1,000,000 VIEWS?

Anyway, here is example one (see screenshot below):

  • Video Length : 26 mins
  • Total Revenue since published: $16,509.16
How much Youtube Paid me for 1,000,000 views

And, here is example two (see screenshot below):

  • Total Revenue since published: $2,715.38
How much Youtube Paid me for 1,000,000 views

So, as you can see not all 1,000,000 views are equal. On the first video, I made a massive 16,509.16 while on the second video, I made a not-so-massive $2715.38. I already explained to you that when you have videos that are longer than 10 mins, you can run multiple ads on those videos which boosts revenue. With videos less than 10 mins, you can only run an ad in the beginning of the video.

So that’s why there is such a difference. There are also other factors involved. You do get paid higher for a video which has predominantly US, Canada, or UK viewers, because advertisers more often target the buyers that have more buying power, rather than other parts of the world where people have lower buying power.

But yeah, I have hundreds of videos shorter than 10 mins, and hundreds of videos longer than 10 mins. My channel has over 250,000,000 views. So, I am sure you can do some math and get some approximate numbers on how much I have actually made so far on Youtube.

Maybe you were just curious, or maybe you want to be a Youtuber, and if the latter, maybe this post can inspire you.
