With the release of the Galaxy S24 lineup, Samsung has committed to providing seven years of major Android updates, matching Google’s promise for the Pixel 8 series. Samsung will also provide 7 years of security updates for certain models listed below. 

Galaxy S, Z, and Tab S series models launched in 2024 and later are eligible for 7 years of updates (full list below)

Samsung has previously pledged at least three years of Android updates for flagship models released from 2019 onwards, extending that promise to four years for a variety of products. 

Additionally, the company ensures that all devices launched from 2019 onward will receive at least four years of security updates, covering over 130 models across the Galaxy S, Note, Z, A, XCover, and Tab lines. More recent flagships, such as the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, are scheduled to receive five years of security updates. One affordable model will receive support for up to six years, while the S24 series is set to receive updates for seven years.
